This will be followed by a creative workshop in Studio 1 exploring the exhibiting artists and Sarogini's own practice.

All materials provided - no previous experience required.

Everyone is welcome, though this event is designed for visitors who are new to the galleries and/or have not visited the current exhibitions.

This is a light overview and conversation style event; you do not need any specific level of knowledge about art or the exhibitions.

Dr. Sarogini G Reddiar is a visual artist whose work reimagines outdoor play and childlore, linking them with folkloric and cultural archetypes. Their art is an exploration of themes such as identity dispersion and the social adultification of black and brown children and their exclusion from play and outdoor education opportunities. Sarogini’s work is inspired by early years pedagogy, generational trauma theory, nature-based play, and societal fears around our interactions with the natural world. Using oils on canvas and acrylic ink on paper, cardboard, or board, pieces feature creatures and symbols, emblematic of the passing down of inter-generational timelines of colonial and diasporic childhood.
