The Study Sessions are informal reading and discussing groups. This season's sessions will touch upon subjects explored in our exhibition Alien Encounters.

All sessions run 6.30-8.30pm and texts will be circulated in advance.

Thursday 5 February

Led by Andrew Goffey (University of Nottingham) this session will focus on Felix Guattari’s Three Ecologies and employments thereof to address Animism and the nature / culture divide.

Thursday 19 February

Led by Eva Giraud (Keele University) this session will explore issues and tensions surrounding representation and conservation and will focus on the issue of how environmental destruction can be challenged, without well-intentioned activists from the Global North trying to speak for indigenous populations. Places for these sessions are limited.

Thursday 5 March

Led by Nic Beuret and titled Cultures of Catastrophe, this session will focus on climate change and the language of catastrophe in popular and theoretical culture.
