RECLAIM THE NIGHT!

Drop into this free DIY placard making workshop on Fri 26 Nov 5-8pm or Sat 27 Nov 12-6pm to create protest art in the lead up to Reclaim The Night womens march. Supported by artist Sian, we’ll inspire you to design collective signs of rage and hope with collage and poetry, though you can interpret creative activities in a way that feels right for you and your voice.

  • All art materials provided though feel free to bring anything specific you’d like to include on your placard (we’ve seen people use stickers, badges and underwear in the past).
  • Workshops limited to 12 people at any one time - please book an hour time slot. You can join for as long or as little time as you choose within your hour slot.
  • This is a workshop prioritising and protesting the rights of women*; the space is welcoming and non-judgemental. We are *trans-inclusive.
  • If you can’t join the march, you are still welcome to share your voice in this workshop.
  • If you can’t join the workshop, you can collect creative materials (foam board and bamboo cane) to take home and create in your own time. Collect from Nottingham Contemporary Tues 23rd – Fri 26th Nov 2021 between 10am - 5pm.
  • If you prefer, you can leave your placard with us and we will deliver it to the march meeting point on Sat 27th at 7pm.
  • Workshop is free of cost, though donations are welcome which will be distributed amongst charities supporting women* in Nottingham.

#SayHerName

This event is in support and solidarity with Reclaim The Night; Nottingham’s biggest and loudest annual grassroots protest against street harassment, victim-blaming, and all forms of men’s violence against women. The protest march for self-identifying women will stomp, sing, dance and shout its way through Nottingham City Centre on Saturday 27th Nov 2021 from 7 - 8:30pm; meet at Blend coffee shop in Sneinton Market, NG1 1DW.
