We are working with artist Oscar Murillo and his studio to involve local people in drawing and mark making on a huge canvas. The session is part of an ongoing project called Social Mapping, with sessions happening across the globe - in Brazil, Zimbabwe and many more countries. The resulting canvases filled with drawings will be sent to São Paulo, where they will be installed on two large-scale scaffolding structures in Ibirapuera Park for the 36th São Paulo Biennial. Biennial visitors will be invited to paint atop these marked canvases, creating an evolving, collective artwork. Murillo thinks of this collective drawing as a celebration of collective spirit across the globe.

We will be hosting this activity near the Tramline spot skatepark at the base of our building. The canvas is 25 x 3 metres and anyone passing by is invited to contribute to draw, write, doodle and mark make freely as a way to capture something of the mood and spirit of our city and its people at a moment in time.
