Open Call: Abbas Zahedi Open Mic

Black text on a red background reads "open call"

On the occasion of Abbas Zahedi’s exhibition at Nottingham Contemporary, we are seeking individuals to participate in a day long Open Mic. The activations will be staged on Sun 25 Jun within Abbas’s exhibition space. Each Open Mic will be an ensemble of creative practices; from spoken word or musical performances to visual art presentations, unfolding before a live audience.

As a continuation of Abbas’ interest in thresholds, arbitrary borders, and notions of difference, this Open Mic aims to establish a communal space for participation and exchange. That is, to establish a prototype for a new form of civic infrastructure where utopian daydreaming can be a tool to blur concrete conceptions of inside and outside

Please send a brief summary of your practice and event contribution (100-150 words or 1 min video) to pdouglas@nottinghamcontemporary.org before Wed 10 Jun.
