Online Workshop: Exploring Collage

Fully booked

Join us from the familiarity of your own home as we explore ideas in the current exhibitions (Grace Before Jones: Camera, Disco, Studio and Jimmy Robert: Akimbo) together through collage by folding, cutting, layering and ‘mark making’ ("using different lines, dots, marks, patterns, and textures"). Sessions involve experimentation and conversation and are a great way to discover our exhibitions, get inspired and develop creative skills whether you're brand new to the gallery or a regular visitor.

Workshops open to all adults (18+) though specifically tailored for people aged 55 years and over.

All levels of experience welcome; you are not required to have seen the exhibition/visited the gallery.

Art materials will be provided delivered by post.

We encourage you to join all 4 weekly workshops though it's not compulsory.

Workshops held virtually on Zoom (we will be offering tech support sessions by phone for participants unfamiliar with Zoom).

New lower price:

£6* per session or just £20* for all four workshops (*plus fees. Taster session free of charge)

Session One: Tue 9 Mar, 6.30-7.30

We will explore 'identity' to create personal self portraits. Focussing on ‘Grace Before Jones: Camera, Disco, Studio’ exhibition.

Session Two: Tue 16 Mar, 6.30-7.30

In this session we'll consider how spaces beyond our computer screens can invoke feelings and emotions. Focussing on ‘Jimmy Robert: Akimbo’ exhibition.

Session Three: Tue 23 Mar, 6.30-7.30

Is life a catwalk? Is it a dancefloor? Is it a stage? We’ll consider how we all represent ourselves through fashion. Focussing on ‘Grace Before Jones: Camera, Disco, Studio’ exhibition.

Session Four: Tue 30 Mar, 6.30-7.30

Discover and discuss how bodies can be political, vulnerable and a resistance as we take collage to 3D levels.

Facilitated by friendly Associate Artists, ‘Exploring’ workshops are tailored with elder participants in mind (aged 55 and over) to offer a relaxed space to experiment with creative skills and ideas in a social environment.
