Learn, play and keep a new worldbuilding game Grow your own planet with local artist Millie Quick, while immersed in the beautiful surroundings of Sarah Cunningham’s Midnight Sun exhibition.

Inspired by Sarah’s dreamy landscapes and the limitless imagination of science-fiction writers, Grow your own planet leads players to shape a planet’s past, map its present and speculate on its future. We will also discuss how the cartography, biohistory and sociology of our real planet can inform our fictions and vice versa.

Suitable for storytellers, artists, writers, GameMasters and anyone curious (Age 14+), this relaxed session will lead us to create our own personal lands as well as adding to a huge shared map. We’ll use play, illustration and discussion to consider how geology, biology, society and technology shape each other. We will also take a closer look at the surrounding paintings to help us picture vivid alien landscapes and the possibilities they bring.

Grow your own planet is a casual, flexible game of prompts and choices. We can draw or write in as much or as little detail as we like, and after the session you’ll receive a complimentary copy. Drawing and writing materials are provided, but feel free to bring your own. No previous experience is necessary to play.

Please note: This session will run on two separate occasions with both sessions covering the same material, so it’s recommended to only attend one session.
