Film Screening: Making Waves
Making Waves (2015) premiers at Nottingham Contemporary. Nearly 40 years after the 1976 Race Relations Act, this new documentary tells the life stories of young British black citizens growing up in Nottingham and Leicester. It asks whether the political organising of one generation has had a positive impact on the next.
The evening included guest speaker Carol Hinds (BBC East Midlands Today), a poetry performance by local artist Kamar, an acoustic set performed by MOBO award nominee Ram1 and his band, and music by DJ Kevin Roach.
