Your support is vital

A small one-off or regular donation helps us present free exhibitions, events and education programmes across the city, up and down the UK, and around the world.

This is part of an audio description guide written for blind and visually impaired audience members. This section of the guide describes the works A millisecond to mute the voice that anchors freedom, This Dream is Serial Not Token, The Calling In Of The Silent Codes, In This Time Zoned Space with Queen Nzinga, On Galactic Paths Of More Tomorrows, Tear Drop Tension Defies Gravitational Pull, Contrapuntal Passages of Us, Score #1 & 2. All of these paintings are in Gallery 1 of our Summer 2025 exhibition Your Ears Later Will Know to Listen.

We invite you to use your own devices to access the audio description. You can navigate between each stop on a playlist, so go at your own pace! Alternatively you can ask for audio description at the reception desk where you will receive an MP3 player fully loaded with our stops. The black device is smaller than a smartphone and can fit either inside your pocket or you can hook it onto your pocket using the clip at the back. A broad screen takes up the top two thirds of the device. Directly below this is a button on the far left that takes you to the menu and on the far right is a back button. There is a wide, raised oval button at the centre which plays and pauses the tracks. It’s surrounded by four direction buttons. A button to the left of the central play button takes you to the previous track. A button to the right takes you to the next track. On the right side of the device is a volume controller and a power on/off button beneath it.

The timecodes for each section of this track are as follows:
