We've signed up to Family Arts Standards

A group of children and families surrounded by materials engage in making art work.

We're proud to announce that we've signed up to the Family Arts Standards, a national standard and checklist to make arts organisations welcoming and responsive to families. The standards are used by venues like us, to make sure we're doing everything we can to make a visit a really positive experience for families. They're also used by families to help them know what to expect when they come. The checklist covers everything from the welcome, to the building and facilities, the activity and the way we involve and respond to families.

We really want families to feel at home and included, so they can explore our changing exhibitions and take part in exciting play and making activities together. The activities are such a big and important part of what we do - last year we delivered 170 free, drop-in activities to 16,000 family visitors. Of course, at the moment our building is closed and we're not delivering our usual programme, but we have things that you can do and make at home We're also busy working our ways to do things differently face to face, online and in communities and looking forward to getting back together with you again. If you'd like to find out more or have suggestions for future work, please do get in touch.
