Announcement - Future of Futures

We are thrilled to announce support from both the Weston Culture Fund and The Foyle Foundation for an ambitious Young People's Programme...

Future of Futures is an immersive year-long research, engagement and artistic project led by young people. Borrowing from sci-fi as well as role play and scenario planning techniques, our project will be set’ in a future version of Nottingham at the end of the 21st century, to collectively reimagine the role of culture and our gallery.

The project will be developed with young people and partners across the city, including Base 51, Space Inclusive, Rainbows, and Flygirl. It will offer unique paid work experiences and platforms, including the development of commissions for young artists, residencies and the opportunity to work alongside our teams and international artists.

With a focus on research and innovation we will also be partnering with Nottingham Trent University, Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies, and Near Now.

In winter 2021, the project will be anchored by a major exhibition titled Our Silver City, extending across all of our gallery spaces, an events programme, and in the creation of new digital works.

In anticipation of this, are currently recruiting young creatives between the ages of 15-25 years old to join 1525 Collective, who will play a key role in the project.

"The vital support of the Weston Culture Fund and The Foyle Foundation means a great deal to us, particularly at this challenging moment will enable us to realise an ambitious and wide-ranging programme exploring the possible futures of culture and society."
