Work with us
Nottingham Contemporary is one of the largest public art galleries in the UK. We are renowned for our international art exhibitions, events and innovative approach to learning and research. As a registered charity our mission is to be a world-leading place for shaping and imagining the future of art, education, and ideas.
We believe art offers extraordinary perspectives on contemporary society. Since opening in 2009 we have welcomed more than two million people to over 60 art exhibitions. Each year 25,000 participants take part in our free Learning programmes, and with local, national and international partners we host stimulating discussions about culture and society.
We are a place for art, experimentation and meaningful encounters. As an organisation we value: Experimentation, Inclusion, Care and Respect, Playfulness and Collaboration.
We offer home working options and flexible hours, an Employee Assistance Scheme to support staff wellbeing, pension enrolment options. Holiday and sick pay, caring and compassionate leave. There are training and networking opportunities and staff discounts in our onsite cafe and shop. There is an employee consultation body, our Employee Forum and recognised union representation. We are a Disability Confident Committed employer. Our Access policy outlines the provisions in place. You can find a copy here.
Our aim is to be welcoming and accessible. We recognise that wider knowledge and perspectives are needed to achieve this. We're working to make our staff team, trustees and audiences representative of our city and wider society.
We actively encourage applications from people from ethnically diverse cultural backgrounds with lived experience of racism, and/or people who are disabled, Deaf/deaf, or neurodivergent and from a range of socio-economic backgrounds, as well those whose experiences cut across these identities. *
*This statement has been created by members of our Inclusion Working Group; a group of staff who are working together to make Nottingham Contemporary a more equitable space. Our language and processes are evolving and we encourage feedback. Guidance from Inc Arts UK, Shape Arts and Jerwood Arts amongst others has helped develop our approach.
