Huang Yong Ping

The exhibition brought together five sculptural installations by Huang Yong Ping, one of the leading Chinese artists of his generation who has lived between Paris and the Fujian Provice, Southern China, since 1989. It took place between 15 April and 26 June 2011, and included the first presentation in Europe of one of his most ambitious works, Bat Project, a series of related artworks created between 2001 and 2004. Visitors entered the Bat Project via the fuselage of an obsolete American spy plane, the cockpit of which was hung with stuffed bats (while they may be feared in the West, bats are believed, in China, to bring good fortune).
