Jack Goldstein

Jack Goldstein’s body of work encompasses performance, film, painting and poetry, and each were represented within this exhibition. Taking place between 22 January and 27 March 2011, this was the first individual showing of Goldstein’s work to take place in the UK.

Goldstein, who died in 2003, is regarded as a key missing link between the art of the 1960s and 1980s, as well as the most important artists’ artists of the past three decades. The exhibition was an opportunity to reconsider his work in depth.

A wider programme included the re-performance of Two Boxers, originally realised in 1979 and re-performed for the first time, under Goldstein’s direction, in New York in 2002.
