Disclosures II: The Middle Ages

Disclosures II: The Middle Ages was an instalment of a project curated by Gasworks London, investigating collaborative authorship and ownership in culture and society. It reconsidered the medieval agricultural roots of the commons in the village of Laxton, Nottinghamshire - the only surviving example of the open field system of farming in the UK.

A day of talks, discussions, walking tours, games and music took place on-site at a Laxton farm and a series of works by Olivia Plender were exhibited amongst the art historical and local history collections at Nottingham Castle’s galleries. ‘Disclosures II’ took place 6th September– 5th October 2008 and was the fourth instalment of ‘Histories of the Present’, Nottingham Contemporary’s year-long pre-opening programme of exhibitions and events, taking place at historical sites in and around Nottingham.
