Erik Davis is a writer, award-winning journalist, and popular lecturer based in San Francisco. He is the author, most recently, of Nomad Codes: Adventures in Modern Esoterica and TechGnosis: Myth, Magic, and Mysticism in the Age of Information, a cult classic of visionary media studies. He has written extensively on technoculture, music, media, and spirituality with essays featured in a number of books including Sound UnboundZig Zag Zen, and Rave Culture and Religion. He has taught at UC Berkeley, UC Davis, Rice University, the California Institute of Integral Studies, and Esalen, and is currently pursuing his PhD in religious studies at Rice University.
