Learning Projects

Nottingham Contemporary works in partnership with city schools to provide pupils and teachers with opportunities to engage with art in our galleries, to work with our team of artists and develop their own creative work and exhibitions.

Over the last 3 years we’ve involved more than 2,500 individual pupils, responding to 12 international exhibitions.

"Working with an artist really hooked the children into the topic".

"The project enabled children to access higher order thinking skills, to critique and evaluate their own work and that of professional artists".

"Each child could access the learning and achieve, irrespective of academic ability".

"The difference in the children has been phenomenal. The children’s confidence and self-esteem has been really boosted. The best creative project we’ve done".

Following the success of these programmes we’re delighted to announce another three years work with 10 Nottingham schools, generously funded by the Garcia Family Foundation. We’re also thrilled that the David Ross Education Trust has matched this support, allowing us to work with a further 6 schools.

Partner schools take part in artist-led workshops at the gallery and in school and develop an exhibition of work at the gallery. Teachers work closely with our team of artists to explore creative approaches and develop a programme that supports their work in schools.
