Between the lines

03 Mar 2011 - 12 Dec 2011

Between the lines is a year long text and spoken word digital project working specifically with vulnerable young people. The project started in March and ran untill December 2011.

Participants from Thorneywood Education Base and Denewood Learning Centre have been exploring their ideas and perceptions of 'a Sense of Place'.

For the first phase of the project our Associate Artist Gillian Brent developed and delivered creative sessions with the young people, constructing 3D words and phrases about where they live and how they feel about the place they are in. These were photographed and turned into slide shows of images.

For the second phase international renowned poet and playwright Rommi Smith worked alongside Gillian, to engage and support the young people in creating poetry and three dimensional 'imaginary spaces', linking reality and fantasy. The poetry and imagery from the whole project has been made into a short video.

The project was managed by Bo Olawoye, Learning and Access Officer. For more information or if your group are interested in working with us please contact boseda@nottinghamcontemporary.org or phone her on 0115 948 9771.
