The JET Collective is the new artist-led network formed in the East Midlands to provide performance opportunities and promote original contemporary jazz by emerging artists, both from the area and from other collectives and networks around the UK. The focus is to showcase up and coming artists performing largely original contemporary jazz and an opportunity to showcase new ideas and develop new audiences.

The gigs are a regular monthly slot featuring two acts and a seasonal event featuring a triple bill. The performances include East Midlands based and visiting acts.

At the end of November, ZOO recorded their new album, ‘PSYCHODRAMA’, with special guest GUY BARKER collaborating on 8 of the 12 tracks, following their successful collaboration with Guy in August 2009 with a performance at Bonington Theatre, Nottingham. The follow up to the acclaimed ‘End of the telegraph wires’, includes much of what has been developed and performed live throughout 2009/10, and showcases an expansive mix of original contemporary instrumental and vocal tracks. Videos for ‘Breathing In’ and ‘Could’ve’ are now available to view. During 2009, ZOO also via EMJAZZ collaborated with trumpeter Nick Smart, performing at the Sleaford Live festival, and followed with appearances at the Lichfield Jazz & Blues Festival and the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, and Balcony TV.
