Spaceships are Cool
Café.Bar.Contemporary welcome back Spaceships are Cool on Saturday 25th September for the official Launch of the debut LP HEART ECHOES. (on vinyl & CD).
Fresh from performances at NXNE (north by north east festival) in Toronto and before heading out to ICELAND AIRWAVES festival, Reykjavik in October, Spaceships are Cool bring with them The Bonsai Band in support and the promise of a night of amazing music and performance.
Created in 2006 by electronica musician Rob Maddison, Spaceships are sometimes many and sometimes few from solo performances to Flaming Lips style onstge parties with cartoon projections and their astronaut GI Joes.
Sounding like sci-fi sunshine pop Spaceships are Cool love their toys and will fascinate you with 1960’s Stylophones, omnichord, theramin and the wonderful Tenori-on.
The Bonsai Band
The trio attempts earnestly to sound like fireworks in cream. The singer likes rock, the bassist likes jazz, no one knows what the drummer likes.
Warm valve tones, intricate drumming sprinkles, soulful grooves rooted in the singer/songwriter tradition, A little bit hard to pin point in terms of style, you’ll have to come and see them to make up your own mind.
Somewhere in the proceedings Bill Withers maybe playing connect 4 with Sea sick steve. Slow songs for fast people.
