The acclaimed international performance showcase Solo Art, Solo Heart, devised and organised by City Arts, comes to Nottingham with a stunning line-up of international and UK performers. There will be an unmissable mixture of dance, film, poetry and music featuring performers from Kurdistan, Africa, India and the UK.
The idea for the international performance showcase Solo Art, Solo Heart came from Gaylan Nazhad, an independent filmmaker and programme co-ordinator at City Arts. In 2009, Gaylan collected together a unique blend of international and local artists to create a stunning showcase of Kurdish and UK performances at the New Art Exchange.
Solo Art gets the artists to collaborate and improvise together without any rehearsal. Professional Kurdish performers from around the world will present their unique talents, joining a diverse group of UK artists in a stunning and thought-provoking evening of entertainment. Highlights include acclaimed musicians Karzan Mahmood & Kani, poet Choman Hardi, slide shows of Kurdish photographers selected via competition, African percussion from Surahata Susso and beatboxing from Danny Ladwa.
