Refugee Week 2017

Launch Event

17 Jun 2017

As part of International Refugee Week 2017, we welcome you to join us in The Space on Saturday 17th June to recognise and celebrate our diverse community.

Get creating and making with our free family-friendly art and music activities, listen to live cultural music by members of Nottingham's Wordjam Collective and enjoy foods from around the world prepared by the Women's Cultural Exchange.

A special screening of Houses Without Doors (2016) by artist and filmmaker Avo Kaprealian (who was born in Aleppo in 1986 to an Armenian family), portrays the changes in the life of an Armenian family on Aleppo’s frontline in Al Midan, an area that brought shelter to the persecuted Armenians 100 years ago, and today to many displaced Syrians. Supported by UK Young Artists, Avo’s film won the Best International Documentary award at 34th Torino International Film Festival in 2016.

Pop in anytime between 1-4pm downstairs in The Space, opposite the cafe.

Look out for other creative activity during the week including live performance and an additional closing event with music. Download a PDF at the bottom of this page for all of the week's events and a map of all the venues.
