A platform for artists based in the Midlands working in video. Darren Banks and Mark Essen will both screen new work that is in development. Curator Paul Pieroni will chair the discussion. Curated by Beth Bramich.

This event is part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and Legacy Trust UK.

Darren Banks is based in Northampton. His work incorporates found and made film footage into sculpture and installation mixing high and low culture to explore his ideas about horror, the domestic, science fiction and defunct technologies.

Mark Essen is an artist based in Birmingham. His work revolves between the idiosyncrasy in popular culture and social idealism. Looking for what sits between beauty and redundancy, he aims to give new meaning to the obsolete.

Both artist will be screening works in development. The event will provide an opportunity for them to open up a discussion around their work with the audience, asking for constructive feedback.

Paul Pieroni is based in London where he has been the head curator of SPACE since late 2009 and was previously the Associate Director at Seventeen gallery. He recently curated exhibition, OH, DELIRIOUS REVINDICATIONS! for the Department of Psychedelic Studies, as part of Wysing Arts Centre’s programme for 2011: ‘The Institute of Beyond’.
