This half term there’s something to keep the family entertained every day! From becoming a spy to discovering a miniature world we’ve got fantastic free activities inspired by our exhibitions. Our galleries are home to a life-size elephant and a US spy plane filled with bats, plenty to fuel your imaginations! You can get free ice cream in our Cafe.Bar when you buy any kids meal - even more reasons to visit every day during half term, including Bank Holiday Monday!

Our events are free and all ages are welcome, 11am – 3pm, just drop in.

Cinematic Scenes

Sat 28 & Sun 29 May, 11am-3pm

Come to our Family Room and imagine yourself in a movie scene inspired by our exhibitions. You could chose to be a spy hiding in a busy market or a superstar traipsing through a hot desert, we’ll be helping kids to get into character! Bring your cameras and upload your photos to our flickr page

Traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony

Mon 30 May, 11am-3pm

As well as hands on activities in the galleries, witness a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony in Cafe.Bar.Contemporary. Come along and taste some tea or hear about how it is traditionally made. 11:00 – 11:30am 11:45 – 12:15pm 12:30 – 1:00pm

Story Challenge

Mon 30 May – Fri 3 June, 11am-3pm*

We’ll be celebrating Children’s Week with our very own story challenge. With elephants, bats and puppets on show in our galleries, there’s plenty to fuel your imagination. Kids of all ages can come along to make props and characters, create sounds and bring their very own stories to life!

We will have a special puppetry session in the galleries. Come along and get creative, watch a shadow puppet performance starting at 11.45am, 12.30pm and 1.45pm

All Things Big and Small

Sat 4 & Sun 5 June, 11am-3pm

There are giant things on show in the exhibitions but what happens when they are made very small? Join us in our weekend Family Room to discover a world of miniatures.
