Grouper’s rare and acclaimed performances are always in tune with the architecture and acoustics of a space. Violet Replacement, the new performing project of musician Liz Harris from Portland, Oregon, is based on a recent commission for New York’s Issue Project Room. Her melodic and haunting music includes field recordings and Wurlitzer loops - all mixed live from an array of dictaphones and tape recorders and overlaid with her “haunting, gorgeous voice”.
