Grilled Rice (Dir. Claude Grunspan. 2000, 52mins)
Gao Rang tells the story of a group of North Vietnamese filmmakers who describe their experiences of filming in combat, first against the French and later the Americans. The film follows five Viet Cong filmmakers who risked everything to contribute in film to the Vietnamese struggle against imperialism. "Gao Rang" is the grilled rice that cameramen used between 1947 and 1975 to protect their equipment and film from humidity.
