Gallery Assistants Walk Through

View from the Gallery Floor

06 Jan 2011

Five of Nottingham Contemporary’s team of Gallery Assistants will give a talk about the current exhibition, British Art Show 7 between 6pm – 7pm.

Gallery Assistants are usually on hand to assist visitors, answer any questions from the public and to interpret the artwork. But for this event they will reveal their own thoughts and feelings about the works on display.

Visitor Services Manager John Leighton said “During the last 10 weeks our team of Gallery Assistants have spent more time with the British Art Show 7 than anyone else. They have a unique insight in to this exhibition and the remarks and comments of visitors. We’re all looking forward to hearing their thoughts.”

From artists, to recent graduates and even a former physiotherapist, the individuals that work as Gallery Assistants are from a variety of backgrounds and experiences which help to shape their views on the exhibitions.

David Newport who has helped organise the event said “The event is a totally biased, sometimes irreverent romp by the people who have spent the last couple of months with the art.”

David Newport, Sian Robinson-Davis, Nadim Chaudry, Feng-Ru Lee and Simon Withers will all be taking part.

The event is free and there is no need to book.

British Art Show 7 is on at Nottingham Contemporary and Nottingham Castle until Sunday 9 January and at New Art Exchange until Saturday 8 January 2011.
