February Half Term

Free Family Activities

15 Feb 2014 - 23 Feb 2014

There are plenty of reasons to bring your family to Nottingham Contemporary this February Half Term. We've got loads of free family activities designed to inspire imaginations and help you discover our exhibitions from Marvin Gaye Chetwynd and Tala Madani together.

Our events are free and all ages are welcome, 11am – 3pm, just drop in.

Sat 15 and Sun 16 February: Glove Puppet Theatre, in The Studio

Watch Marvin Gaye Chetwynd’s version of Cat Woman made from puppets in the exhibition, then make your own and put on a show.

Our Galleries and our Family Room are closed on Mondays.

Tue 18 - Fri 21 February: World in a Box, in The Space

Join us over the school holidays to be inspired by Chetwynd’s worlds in miniatures and create your own shoebox 3D scene. Travel through worlds, as we put the works together to create a group piece for everyone to enjoy and explore.

Sat 22 and Sun 23 February: Cake-men Comic Strips, in The Studio

Make your own comic strip by adding characters to battle against or alongside Cakeman! See Tala Madani’s work and the painting ‘Blue’ from the Cake-Men series for inspiration.

Sat 22: Family Film - Spirited Away - in The Space, 3pm – 4.30pm £3 per person (under 2’s free)

A charming animated children's tale directed by Hayao Miyazaki, one of Japan's most beloved animators.

Borrow an Explorer kit bag - every day during the exhibition
Free, Available from Reception

Created by artists, for families, our kit bags are full of games and bright ideas to help everyone get the most from our exhibitions, whatever their age or experience of art. Just ask at Reception and pick one up for free.

“A great idea – it helped my children to be able to look at the art in more detail.” Family visitor
