Welcome to a brand new season of family workshops and events at Nottingham Contemporary. Nature carpets, miracle plants and walking stick cabbages are some of the amazing artworks that will inspire our family workshops and activities. There is something to enjoy every single weekend and extra events during the Easter holidays .

These little bags of wonder offer families practical and playful ways to explore and enjoy the exhibitions.

Family Room
Every Sat & Sun during the exhibition, 11am – 3pm, Free.

There is something wonderful to do every weekend in our Family Room. The Studio Just drop in!

Step inside The Family Room and find a world of new ideas and many wonderful ways to enjoy the exhibition. Our talented Play and Learn staff will make it fun, interactive and offer you new art skills with which to conjure up your family creations.

Sat 16 & Sun 17 March - Seed Sticks

Interact with nature and take a piece of it away by making a Play and Learn seed stick. What can it be? Join us to find out!

Sat 23 & Sun 24 March - Nature Furniture

Piero Gilardi’s nature carpets are brilliant colourful artistic inventions made of squidgy foam and bursting with hyper real fruits and vegetables.

Be inspired by them to make your own nature furniture. You can decide if it’ll be a kettle made of leaves, a cushion turned into a rock pool or something completely different!

Fri 29 March - Sun 14 April - Build it up!

You have two weeks to help us build an environment – real or imagined- in the HUGE space over the Easter holidays. Inspiration will be provided by the artworks in the galleries and the glorious Nottingham Contemporary building itself.

Look out for Mr Zebra on Bank Holiday Monday and Wednesday 10 April!
