There are plenty of reasons to bring your family to Nottingham Contemporary this Easter Holiday. We've got loads of free family activities designed to inspire imaginations and help you discover our exhibition, Somewhat Abstract (opening on 12 April). We will be exploring the use of different materials, shape, patterns and light to create your own family artwork.

Our events are free and all ages are welcome, 11am – 3pm, just drop in.

Our Galleries will be closed between 24 March - 11 April

Patterns in Architecture

The Space


Be inspired by our building to make your own abstract patterns. We'll be put these together in a film that we'll show on Friday 11 April in the Studio, pop in to see your work on screen.

We are open on Bank holidays but closed on normal Mondays.

Our galleries will be open to explore Somewhat Abstract from 12 April.

White Workshop

The Space

We will be exploring how different materials resist and react with each other and creating an all-white collaborative artwork.

Land Map Installation

The Space

We will be filling The Space with tent-like artworks and a huge installation taking Kathy Prendergast's Land as inspiration. Come along to create and draw and see our installation grow.

Sat 19, Easter Sun 20 & Bank Holiday Mon 21 April
Pixal Pictures

The Space


We will be creating giant portraits and figures using coloured squares, look from above to see your pixal picture art attack unfold.

Created by artists, for families, our kit bags are full of games and bright ideas to help everyone get the most from our exhibitions, whatever their age or experience of art. Just ask at Reception and pick one up for free.
