Get Involved Circuit Event

03 Aug 2013

A collaboration of talent

Sat 3 August, 5pm - 8pm

The Space

COLLABOR-8 is a free event in the Space to celebrate Circuit, a four year programme for thousands of young people in Nottingham - a city justly famous for its creativity.

Leave your own creative mark as we COLLABOR-8 - inspired by eight artworks in the Mark Leckey exhibition. We'll be linking visual art, music, film and the written and spoken word. We'll also be asking what creativity is - so come and help us find the answer.

Get Involved 17 is part of Circuit, a national programme connecting 15 - 25 year olds to the arts in galleries and museums. Led by Tate and funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation. We're inviting you to be a spark in this art revolution.

The central work is titled 'History of creativity' which will be an interactive piece of work that spreads across the floor of the space. A blueprint timeline of how we all have been affected by creativity and its presence in all our life. How personal links and connections appear to travel across the floor, weaving the visual history of creativity in all its guises. The young curators will be asking other young people to add to the giant artwork and share the moments of creativity that helps shape them.

There will also be a collection of photographs depicting G17's childhood ambitions from being a farmer, a pilot to a fairy! Overheard conversations come together to create a humorous sound piece. An animation inspired by how everyone is connected to each other. A large sculpture which turns the idea of rubbish into a thing of beauty, with cockroaches and flies having a makeover! An interactive light installation that asked you to step out of the darkness with a hidden surprise and a piece of art that changes whenever someone looks at it with different eyes.

Within the exhibition G17 will be asking you to help add to their ideas of creativity and shape the future of how we use creativity in life and celebrate all the things that make us who we are.

The exhibition will be followed by live music in our Cafe.Bar from 8mm Orchestra and Josh Kemp, who have been invited to perfom by the G17 group. More>>
