Celebrating Refugee Week

16 Jun 2012

Free, 12pm – 5pm, just drop in.

Come to the launch of Refugee week 2012 for music, performances and workshops from cultures from around the world. We'll be celebrating contributions made by refugee and asylum seekers, and we'll be showcasing art works created by community groups inspired by the exhibitions of Nottingham Contemporary.

This event is headed by Beyond Borders, groups of volunteers and supportive organisations who work hard to engage and give practical support to the city’s refugee and asylum seekers.

We’ve put together a fantastic programme of workshops, events, musical performances and information stalls. We are very much looking forward to the Haitian band bringing the gallery alive with their rhythms, music from the middle east and hearing an exhibition talk by the gallery’s very own international group.

We are pleased to bring together many of our partners and provide a space for everyone to share their talents and highlight the contribution made by some of the city’s most dynamic citizens.

Partners Include:
Nottingham Beyond Borders,
The Nottingham and Notts Refugee Forum,
The British Red Cross,
Refugee Futures,
City Arts,
Rainbow Project,
Nottingham City Council library services,
and Long Journey Home
