Kizomba Yeto is delighted to present the Angolan 9 years of Peace Celebration party on 12th November 2011. We will celebrate cultural and rhythmic flavors of Angola in order to mark and honor the Peace established on 4th April 2002. The day will feature influences from past and present Angola adopting traditional and contemporary music, dance and a range of Angolan food. This event will present an opportunity to learn about Angola and enjoy aspects of its culture.
4pm: Traditional music played by the Resident Angolan community in Nottingham.
5pm: Percussion Workshop – led by Ney Corte Real, teaching traditional and typical rhythms of Angola such as Semba, Kuduro and Kilapanga.
6pm: Angolan Food - A delightful variety of Angolan cuisine will be available for purchase (including vegetarian and vegan options).
6.30pm: Kizomba Dance Lessons – by Mr. Kizomba - Angola’s biggest musical export enjoying growing popularity in Cape Verde, Portugal, France, Spain and the UK. It is influenced by other musical styles such as Francophone Caribbean Zouk, Cuban salsa, Argentinean Tango and Angolan Semba. Kizomba is danced in pairs, to music which combines a romantic sensual flow, sung in Portuguese, with a laid back yet insistent electronic percussion section. As a key member of the highly acclaimed dance performance trio Coruja e Corujinha Mr Kizomba has toured the world performing Kizomba and now teaches in collaboration with the pioneering Kizomba UK.
8.30pm: N.G.K. NEWGENERATIONKILLAS Hip Hop/Rap performance. This eclectic mix of friends who six years ago came together as musicians in the city Torres-Vedras, Portugal. Singing in Portuguese hip hop and rapping, this will be a rare opportunity to see them in Nottingham.
10.00pm: Live music by KambaSemba - playing infectious Angolan rhythms KambaSemba performs live regularly in Nottingham, as well as in London for the Angolan Embassy events. It will be a truly unmissable live performance.
11pm: DJ RedCastle, the King of Zongue and DJ Trivela
12pm: Kuduro performance The Kaemchis
